Bribery brings down nine defendants in Nineveh districts

Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: The Federal Integrity Commission announced the arrest of 9 people accused of bribery in the intelligence, municipal, and water departments in Nineveh.

A statement from the Commission received by Al-Masala stated that the Nineveh Investigation Directorate’s work team was able, after follow-up, monitoring and investigation, to arrest five accused persons red-handed in receiving bribes, noting that (4) intermediaries were arrested while they were receiving an amount of (750,000) thousand dinars from a citizen and handing it over to the fifth accused. “The President” is a member of the Nineveh Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism Directorate – Al-Hadbaa Division, in exchange for sealing three transactions to issue Iraqi citizenship, noting that security verification forms for the families of ISIS terrorist gangs were seized, blank and stamped with the stamp of a senior officer in the member’s possession.

He added that two employees of the Mosul Municipality Directorate working in the municipal flower sector – the Transgressions Division, were arrested after receiving an amount of (600,000) thousand dinars as a bribe from one of the transgressors in exchange for turning a blind eye and not preventing them from trespassing on two properties “agricultural lands” owned by the municipality.

The statement continued that an employee in the Nineveh Water Department – Imports Department was arrested after he bargained with a cafeteria owner and requested an amount of (500,000) thousand dinars, in exchange for being exempted from collecting the debts he owed to the Water Directorate, which totaled (3,500,000) million dinars.

He explained that three seizure reports were prepared regarding the operations carried out based on judicial warrants, and they were presented with the defendants to the competent investigating judge, who decided to arrest the defendants in the first and third operations in accordance with the provisions of Resolution (160 of 1983).
