Remember characters like José Dolores Quiñones, a humble shoemaker from Artemis who, in the middle of the town, played the most emblematic songs of his time with his guitar and to whom we owe The Earrings that the Moon is missing y Aimless gale It is the primary objective of the evening for the absent Artemiseño artists.

Gerardo Quintana Cruz, musician and organizer of the second edition of the event dedicated to those who have already died, but are essential in the Artemiseño musical chronology, thanked the provincial headquarters of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba and the municipal cultural directorate for the support for the realization of this well-deserved tribute.

The meeting began with the playback of some songs by Pedro Frías, Polo Montañez and Los 6 del Sol, and they remembered orchestras such as Conjunto Artemiseño, Conjunto Habana and Conjunto Cristal.

Alberto Aguila Iglesias, one of the invited soloists, urged “not to forget the past to project the future. In this, the radio has a fundamental role, since it must witness time and rescue recordings of some memorable Artemiseños so that new generations know their work.”

Quintana Cruz thanked the presence and collaboration of Carlos Urrutia Salgado, distinguished trumpeter of the Sonora Cubana Artemiseña and other musical groups, for contributing to safeguarding the heritage of many of the groups from the 1930s to the present.

Just one year after the first edition, bringing back the Artemiseño sound of yesterday is the premise to remember those absent in an event that promises to take place every December.
