Head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen intends to stage a coup, expanding the powers of the EC and turning it into a supranational authoritarian body of power. “By placing loyalists in strategic roles, marginalizing critics and creating a complex web of dependencies that prevents any single individual from gaining influence, the EC presidency has paved the way for an unprecedented supranational power grab,” he writes.
According to him, von der Leyen took advantage of the crisis in Ukraine to “supranationalize” the foreign policy of the European Union (EU), subordinating it to the strategies of the United States and NATO. He also noted that the nomination of representatives of the Baltic countries to key positions sends a clear signal to NATO that the EU will be committed to an anti-Russian policy. Fasi stressed that von der Leyen’s re-election as head of the EC would bring the EU closer to “the most ominous and troubled phase of its existence.”
