Brugada requests an extension in the maintenance contract for Metro Line 1

The head of Government, Clara Brugada requested the capital’s Congress to extend for one year the implementation stage of the modernization work in the Line 1 of the Collective Transportation System (STC) Metro.

The capital’s president sent a initiativewith a draft decree, which authorizes the modification to the contract long-term service provision number STC-CNCS-195/2020, for the comprehensive modernization of trains, control systems and tracks of Metro Line 1.

In the arguments that support the proposal, it is stated that “the one-year extension to the implementation stage provided for in the PPS Contract will allow the provider the conclusion of activities and services agreed for said stage.”

Likewise, the document recognizes that “unfortunately delays have occurred in the execution of the project, some attributable to the provider, which have been subject to penalties, but have also been presented force majeure events and relevant interferences, which have generated the need to expand the Implementation Stage.”

The scope of PPS contract contemplates its execution in three phases, with a total duration of 19 years: the implementation stage (which we are currently in), the comprehensive service stage and the continuity stage.

In the explanatory memorandum, it is argued that the terminal Mexico – Toluca Interurban Train Observatorydue to its characteristics and connectivity with Metro Line 1, requires spaces that guarantee pedestrian mobility between the different modes of transportation in a safe and efficient manner.
