The activity is carried out under the organization of the Argentine Association of Game of Go at the headquarters of the Argentine Chess Club, in the neighborhood of Recoleta, a northern area of ​​the capital, an event that brings together men and women of different ages. with interest and curiosity about the tactics and strategy of the game.

The director of the Argentine Go Tournament 2024, Agustín Santiago Gutiérrez, said in an interview with Xinhua that it is “the most important tournament in Argentina, with the biggest players, the longest, and with the most serious games.”
Gutiérrez appreciated that the competition is also a qualifier to form the Argentine teams that will represent the country in the international competitions that will take place in 2025.

The activity in the city of Buenos Aires is of a “very federal” nature, since representatives from the various provinces of the South American country take part in it. “People come from all over the country to play it,” explained Gutiérrez.

Go is an abstract strategy board game for two players, who compete to capture more territory than their opponent. With a history of about 4,000 years, it was considered one of the most refined skills that ancient Chinese intellectuals could possess.

The activity includes youth, women’s and men’s competitions.

According to the organizers, the competition will have a total of six rounds, with many games each, and the consecration of the champions who will enter regional and international competitions next year representing Argentina.
