Rumen Radev held a meeting with representatives of American companies in the field of high technologies, cyber security, digital and communication infrastructure

Bulgaria is ready to support investments in the development of digital infrastructure and connectivity. This was stated by the head of state Rumen Radev at a meeting in the presidential institution with representatives of leading companies from the state of Virginia, USA, in the field of high technology, defense, security systems in cyberspace, digital and communication infrastructure. The US deputy ambassador to our country, Martin McDowell, also took part in the conversation. As part of their visit to our country, managers of American companies will hold meetings with representatives of Bulgarian business, scientific organizations and state institutions with the aim of exploring opportunities for future partnership and development of economic cooperation between Bulgaria and the USA, the press center of the presidency announced.

The improvement of transport, energy and digital connectivity is of key importance for the modernization of the Bulgarian economy, was the general position during the meeting. The President singled out digital connectivity as the most important for the future of our country and emphasized the importance of investments in the improvement of digital infrastructure and the construction of large data centers in our country.

Rumen Radev also highlighted the potential of the project for the construction of a National Center for Aerospace Monitoring, Control and Management introduced by the presidential institution in the Bulgarian Recovery and Resilience Plan, as well as the project for the creation of a center for cyber security, for the development of the partnership with the USA in the field of high technology.

The prospects for the modernization of the Bulgarian Armed Forces were also among the topics discussed during the meeting. The President emphasized the importance of increasingly deployed low-cost defense systems leading to an asymmetric advantage in modern military conflicts and gave the example of unmanned aerial vehicles for surveillance, reconnaissance, targeting and striking. The head of state noted the projects that our country implements in cooperation with the USA for the modernization of the Air Force and the Ground Forces, emphasizing the ambition of the Bulgarian state that the partnership between the two countries in this field leads to technology transfer and industrial cooperation.

The head of state also highlighted the potential of our country for foreign investments in the field of high technologies and productions with high added value. The qualified human potential in the IT sector, the experience of Bulgarian specialists in high technologies, as well as the favorable tax conditions in our country were among the advantages of Bulgaria highlighted by the president, which create prerequisites for the realization of mutually beneficial partnerships. Bulgaria’s geostrategic position was also highlighted as a significant factor for investment interest in the development of digital infrastructure and cyber security systems in our country, as well as for the potential of our country to play a leading role in this sector in the region of Southeast Europe.
