A post on the website said: “At the MTG Dolphin shipyard in the Bulgarian city of Varna, the second MMPV military patrol ship developed for the Bulgarian Navy was recently launched into the water, according to the terms of the contracts signed, the ship was was supposed to go into the water in April 2025, but the process of making the ship’s hull was accelerated, and it was launched into the water earlier than planned.”
The website indicated that in 2020 the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense had signed a contract with the German company Naval Vessels Lürssen to develop two “MMPV” warships, and the value of the agreement was about 503 million dollars, and in June 2020 the first of these ships was lowered into the water, and work is currently underway to fit equipment, followed by a number of tests, to be delivered to the Bulgarian Navy in 2025.
Each of these ships will be 90 meters long, with a water displacement equal to 2,300 tons, and will be equipped with 76 mm cannons, RBS-15 anti-ship and anti-ship missiles, VL MICA anti-air missile systems, 324 mm. torpedoes, and combat systems Developed by the Swedish company Saab.
