Views on the expansion of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), including Bulgaria’s accession to it, were discussed in Paris by representatives of Bulgarian employers.
In the French capital, where the headquarters of the organization is located, the Business Council of the OECD held its annual consultation with the Secretary General of the organization Matthias Cormann, the management and ambassadors to the OECD. The meeting was titled “Charting the Course for Competitiveness”.

The team of Bulgarian employers is represented by Eng. Stefan Chaikov, member of the Board of Directors of AIKB, and Irina Yordanova, Director of “International Organizations” at KRIB, representative of the rotating chairman for 2024 of the Association of Bulgarian Employers’ Organizations.

The consultation outlined recommendations for implementing policies to strengthen competitiveness from the point of view of internationally operating companies, as well as from the point of view of SMEs. A special session highlighted the main priorities and challenges facing the private sector such as global security issues, the most expedient ways to achieve a green transition and promote economic participation.
The extremely important role of the OECD in helping to set standards for a business-friendly environment worldwide has been highlighted.

The meeting in Paris is defined as a strategic one at the beginning of the year, at which representatives of more than 50 business and employer organizations from the most developed countries in the world set the tone for the work of the Business Council with the OECD.
The representatives of the Bulgarian employers also participated in the annual general meeting of the OECD Business Council, during which a number of issues related to consistent advocacy for business before the OECD and the 38 member states were discussed in the context of the forthcoming annual meeting of OECD Council of Ministers.
