ABIDJAN – The Confederation of African Association Football (CAF) has just sanctioned the Moroccan coach. Walid Regragui is suspended for four matches, two of which are suspended following his altercation last Sunday with Leopards captain Chancel Mbemba.

Mr. Regragui will also have to pay a fine of $5,000. His federation is sanctioned with paying $10,000 in fines for the behavior of his selection staff.

CAF had launched an investigation after this deplored incident at the end of the match on the second day of Group F between the DRC and Morocco (1-1).

The images show the Moroccan coach approaching Chancel Mbemba as the latter finished his prayer. The Congolese player accepted his hug but Regragui held him back by force forcing him to look him in the eyes. An altercation ensued between members of two teams.

On social networks, several Moroccan supporters subsequently made racist remarks and comments against Mbemba.
