Canonical Announces General Availability of Charmed Kafka

by time news

Canonical announces the release of Charmed Kafka, an enterprise solution for Apache Kafka. Apache Kafka is an open source data streaming platform that allows you to collect, store, and process continuous streams of real-time event data.

Canonical Charmed Kafka includes a comprehensive management solution that covers the entire lifecycle of a Kafka cluster, from initial deployment to operational support and monitoring, and includes a distribution of Apache Kafka. This solution makes it easy to set up and manage Kafka in public cloud infrastructures or data centers. The free and open source solution comes with comprehensive support and security maintenance, so teams can work with peace of mind. Kafka provides durable storage for data, meaning it is not lost in the event of a system failure.

Charmed Kafka can be installed on cloud virtual machines as well as Kubernetes clusters, which brings cloud-native portability across clouds and data centers. The solution can be deployed on cloud infrastructures such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and OpenStack, as well as VMWare, CNCF-compliant Kubernetes and directly on physical systems via Canonical MAAS.

The initial release provides robust features for automated deployment, configuration, scaling, observability, automatic upgrades, and securing the cluster.

The Charmed Kafka software operator solution offers administrators the ability to deploy, configure and operate Kafka clusters on cloud infrastructure or Kubernetes clusters using Canonical’s open source orchestration engine.

Charmed Kafka is part of a series of data solutions integrated into Canonical’s data solutions portfolio. Under the Ubuntu Pro + Support plan, customers receive per-node enterprise support, which covers all portfolio applications such as Charmed Kafka and Charmed Spark. Support also includes additional AI solutions from Canonical, including Charmed Kubeflow and Charmed ML Flow.
