A serious security breach occurred Sunday night as a car slammed into a parked SUV that was guarding President Joe Biden’s motorcade in Delaware. The incident took place just after 8 p.m. as Biden and first lady Jill Biden were leaving the Biden-Harris 2024 headquarters in Wilmington.
Fortunately, neither the president nor the first lady were injured in the collision. Reporters traveling with the Bidens described the first lady wishing “happy holidays” to reporters before getting into a presidential vehicle. Moments later, a silver copper sedan with Delaware plates crashed into the parked SUV that was protecting the president’s motorcade.
Members of the US Secret Service swiftly responded, rushing to the car and apprehending the driver, who held up his hands as agents pulled their weapons. The press was then escorted back to their van as Biden, with a surprised expression, was ushered into his vehicle. The motorcade left the scene at 8:09 p.m. and arrived back at Biden’s residence just 11 minutes later.
