Initial Pursuit and Intercantonal Chase
On Saturday morning, a patrol from the Bern cantonal police first observed three powerful motorized cars traveling on the A1 highway near Wileroltigen, heading in the direction of Kerzers. Due to the high speed at which the vehicles were traveling, officers were forced to discontinue the pursuit. However, the vehicles were later tracked as they fled towards Avenches in the canton of Vaud.
According to reports, the suspected vehicles were likely stolen from the canton of Bern. This initial assessment prompted a wider investigation involving multiple police forces.
Coordinated Arrests and Vehicle Seizure
Thanks to effective intercantonal coordination, the three drivers were successfully apprehended in the cantons of Neuchâtel and Vaud. A senior official stated that the collaboration between the Bern, Freiburg, Neuchâtel, and Vaud cantonal police was instrumental in bringing the suspects into custody. All three vehicles were subsequently seized as evidence.
Suspect Identities and Ongoing Investigation
Authorities have identified the suspects as two French nationals, aged 18 and 24, and an 18-year-old citizen of the Central African Republic. All three individuals are currently in custody and will face legal proceedings.
