Carpets woven according to the artist’s sketches have gained popularity and interest among art connoisseurs. The exhibition includes illustrations to Nizami’s works, biblical motifs, and Karabakh ornaments.
Carpet making is one of the traditional, ancient types of decorative and applied art of Azerbaijan. Data from archaeological research conducted on the territory of Azerbaijan and literary sources indicate that the art of carpet weaving originated in ancient times. An inexhaustible interweaving of patterns, flights of creative imagination and high craftsmanship – this is what an Azerbaijani carpet is. Azerbaijani carpet weaving is included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
