The Chennai High Court has quashed the case registered by the Coimbatore police against actor Simbu in the “Beep” song case.
A song sung by actor Simbu along with composer Anirudh in 2015 has become controversial on the internet. Simbu and Anirudh have lodged complaints with the police alleging that the song portrayed women in an obscene manner.
Coimbatore Race Course and Chennai Central Crime Branch police registered two cases separately and conducted an investigation. Actor Simbu filed a petition in the Chennai High Court seeking quashing of the cases.
The judge quashed the case registered by the Coimbatore police on the ground that there was no evidence to support the complaint and directed the police to respond to the petition seeking the quashing of the case in Chennai.
