Noting that the agenda for this session remains “extremely dense”, Mr. Zniber cited among the priorities retained the question of the right to development and the promotion of the gender approach in the work of the council, but also within the United Nations system.

“The right to development is a subject on the Council’s agenda, but with divergent approaches,” he observed, noting that developing countries are pleading for the recognition of this right as such. , while conferring a human dimension of human rights.

The ambassador also emphasized the fundamental nature of the right to education for children, “by which we can measure whether we wish to have a very positive approach to the application of human rights. ‘Man in this dimension’.

The 57th session is also marked by interactive dialogues, during which reports submitted to the council by proxies, Special Procedures and Special Rapporteurs are examined, Mr. Zniber continued.

“Alongside the country reports, there are special reports devoted to very specific subjects, including issues related to violence against women and racial discrimination,” he said.

On the same register, the question of artificial intelligence and human rights finds its place among the priority subjects of the Moroccan presidency of the Human Rights Council.

In this regard, he said, Morocco organized last week an international meeting on the impact of artificial intelligence on the enjoyment of human rights, with the participation of business leaders. international organizations, including UNESCO and the International Telecommunications Union.

The debates on this subject focus on the ethical aspects of this problem as well as on the digital divide which causes serious concerns in terms of development, access to education and medicine.
