The coordinator of the Women Parliamentary Association for Feminist and Inclusive Commerce, in the Congress of Mexico City, Silvia Sánchez Barrios presented a point of agreement for the Cuauhtémoc mayor’s office to carry out maintenance, rehabilitation and conservation of the Morisco Kiosk.

After the passing of the previous administration, Sánchez Barrios commented that the Morisco Kiosk went from being a space for dancing, singing and coexistence to being open intermittently, to a place with obvious signs of lack of maintenance.

In this sense, he pointed out that the neglect of authorities and neighbors, added to the passage of time, have deteriorated the kiosk located in the Santa María la Ribera avenue, ceasing to be a safe and clean space.

In terms of health, he regretted the cases of neighbors who “when they take their pet for a walk, they do not pick up the feces of their animals and if we add to that that there are no special containers for this organic waste, the area becomes chaos due to so much insalubrity”.

Finally, he recognized the Santa María la Ribera avenue as a point of tourist importance, as well as a meeting point for the local population and for those who visit the center of the City. “It is the obligation of the Mayor’s Office to protect the history and citizen heritage of this area, not only because they are tourist attractions but also spaces of culture, recreation, but also the creation of a social fabric,” he said.

The point of agreement for maintenance of the Morisco Kiosk was sent directly to commissions.
