The electoral assembly of Central Lechera Asturiana (Clas) yesterday renewed 50% of its governing board, the company’s governing body, and half of the control commission, which acts as an internal audit. As a result of the vote, the four members who opted for re-election repeat and four new additions enter.

The partial elections affected 6 of the 12 positions on the board, although not the presidency, held by Alberto Álvarez, nor the vice-presidency, held by José Ramón Badiola, as both mandates were in force as well as four members, including Javier Marcos, who has been acting as secretary.

Of the eight candidates who ran for the six vacant positions on the governing board, the ranches and companies Los Laureles (from the eighth electoral zone), Ganadería Rafaela (fourth), Casa Bigotes (third), Ganadería El Ferreiro (first) and El Palacio livestock farm (second), all of them representing the active members (those who deliver milk), and María Ángeles González Cueto, from the eighth zone, for the surplus members, who no longer produce raw materials. .

Of these six members, four are new members and two (El Ferreiro and El Palacio ranches) repeat for a new term as they have not exhausted the maximum period of consecutive permanence established by the statutes. Both partners (represented, respectively, by Ramón López and Sergio Suárez) were the only ones of the six who had to renew who could aspire to re-election.

After this renovation, the new board of directors of Central Dairy Asturiana remains composed of Alberto Alvarez ( president), Jose Ramon Badiola (vice president), Javier Marcos, Guillermo Castaño, Mario Alvarez, Sergio Suarez, Ramon Lopez, Victor Rubio, Jose Manuel Rodriguez and Luis Mariano Garcia, all of them by the active partners. For the liabilities, José Antonio Pérez follows and María Ángeles González enters.

In the case of the control or accounts commission, the renewal was also partial: it affected two of its four members. In this case, the two members whose mandate expired were renewed. Both had the possibility of choosing to repeat. These are Manuel Ángel Heres García, from the sixth electoral zone, and José Feito Feito (Ganadería Parlero), from the third.

The assembly of Central Lechera Asturiana is made up of 104 delegates and 103 participated in yesterday’s vote. The assembly was completely renewed in recent months through a long electoral process that was carried out in the eight electoral districts. From the votes, in which the 6,650 members of Central Lechera Asturiana participated, 16 delegates were proclaimed representing the 5,742 passive members and 88 for the 908 members who produce and deliver milk to the agrarian processing company. Clas is the most important Asturian company with a cooperative spirit and is the hegemonic shareholder of the manufacturing companies Capsa and Asa, in addition to controlling other subsidiaries that provide services to associated livestock farmers.
