The <a href="http://www.time.news/50-call-the-social-outbreak-very-bad-for-chile/" title="50% call the social outbreak "very bad" for Chile“>CEP survey not only addressed political issues, but also delved into values such as religion, family, among others.
The survey by the Center for Public Studies (CEP) released this Wednesday also included value themes linked to democracy, family, sexual minorities and religionproviding a broader perspective of what Chileans are like.
Regarding the most appropriate system to lead the country, 47% said that democracy is preferablewhile 17% estimated that in some circumstances an authoritarian regime is better and 31% said they don’t care one or the other.
Regarding abortion, for 15% it should always be prohibited, for 34% it should be an option in any circumstances, and for 50% should be allowed in particular cases.
Besides, 58% of those surveyed considered that euthanasia should be allowed in special cases29% believe that it should always be allowed, and 11% believe that it should never be allowed.
Family, children and religious beliefs
Regarding what is the ideal number of children for a family, 58% believe there are three, while 20% believe there should be four and 11% consider that two are enough.
Besides, 80% believe that a father or mother can raise a child as well on their own as if both parents did itcompared to 13% who estimate the opposite.
60% of those consulted by the CEP survey agrees that A same-sex couple can raise a child just as well as a heterosexual couple.while for 25% that is not true.
Regarding religious beliefs, 41% disagreed with the statement that life has meaning only because God existswhile for 38% that is true.
Both, 48% of those surveyed declared themselves close to or belonging to the Catholic Church17% Evangelical and 31% declared themselves an atheist or agnostic.
Finally, 77% of those who responded to the CEP survey said they believed in heaven; 75% do it in life after death and 79% in religious miracles.
