A new low pressure area is likely to persist over Southeast Bay of Bengal, the Meteorological Department said.
According to the information released by the Meteorological Department,
The low pressure area that prevailed over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and the eastern parts of the Indian Ocean along the Equator today continues in the same areas.
It is likely to move west-northwestward and strengthen as a deep depression during the next 24 hours. After that it will continue to move in West North-West direction and strengthen as a depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal on 31.01.2023 and may reach Sri Lankan waters on 01.02.23.
Due to this,
On Jan 29, Jan 30, Jan 31 light/moderate rain may occur at one or two places over Northeast coastal districts and Puducherry, Karaikal.
Jan 27: Dry weather is likely to prevail over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. The minimum temperature at a few places may be 2 to 3 degree Celsius below normal.

Weather Forecast for Chennai and Suburbs
The sky will remain partly cloudy for the next 48 hours. The maximum temperature will be around 30 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature will be around 21 degree Celsius. Light fog will occur in the morning.
For fishermen
Cyclonic winds with a speed of 40 to 45 kmph and occasional gusts of 55 kmph are likely to occur in the eastern parts of the equatorial Indian Ocean over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas.
Fishermen are advised not to visit these areas.
