Doctors to the King of Great Britain Charles III allowed him to briefly pause his cancer treatment for a work trip to Australia. The Daily Mail writes about this, Day.Az reports with reference to Lenta.ru.
The 75-year-old monarch is planning to interrupt procedures for an important official visit, which will begin on October 18. He decided to visit Sydney and Canberra, and from there immediately leave for the island nation of Samoa in the South Pacific. There the king will take part in a meeting of heads of government of the Commonwealth of Nations.
Charles III will continue his current course of treatment until departure and then resume treatments once he returns to the UK. Journalists considered this a good sign, because it could mean that the dynamics are positive. Moreover, Charles III’s stoicism in the face of illness was considered by his subjects to be an indicator of deep dedication to his cause.
Buckingham Palace declined to comment.
The king was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024 after prostate surgery. The type and stage of cancer are not disclosed. Charles III has been undergoing weekly treatment for seven months now.
