Havana: Camilo Guevara, son of Cuban revolutionary leader Ernesto Che Guevara and director of the Che Guevara Studies Center, has died. Official news agency Prensa Latina said the 60-year-old died of a heart attack during a visit to Caracas, Venezuela.
He was the third of four children born to Che Guevara and Aleida March, who fought alongside Fidel Castro during the Cuban Revolution and became a legendary figure.
He was the director of the Center of Che Guevara Studies in Havana, which houses documents and other materials related to Che Guevara.
A very reserved person, Camilo Guevara occasionally attended events honoring his father. He has publicly opposed the use of Che Guevara’s image in marketing campaigns.
“We are deeply saddened by the death of Che’s son and ideologist Camilo,” Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel wrote on his Twitter account.
Camilo has a daughter, Camila, from his marriage to the late Suylan Milanes, daughter of singer Pablo Milanes.
