Chennai Drug Smuggling Case: Former DMK Executive’s House Raided by Delhi Anti-Narcotics Police

Chennai: The Delhi Anti-Narcotics Police broke the lock and entered the house of former DMK executive Zafar Sadiq, who was involved in a drug smuggling case, and took away the documents from there. Also, the house was sealed.

According to the police, the Central Narcotics Control Unit in Delhi received information that the main chemicals used in the manufacture of drugs (pseudopterin), coconut powder and health mix (nutritional flour) were hidden in packets and smuggled to countries like New Zealand and Australia. In this regard, the Delhi Narcotics Control Unit police were engaged in intensive surveillance.

In this case, it was revealed that the smuggling gang was hiding in a warehouse in West Delhi’s Kailash Park area. The police entered there on the 15th and arrested 3 persons from Chennai Mukesh, Mujipur and Villupuram Ashokumar. 50 kg of chemicals used to make drugs were seized from them. Their international value is Rs.2,000 crore.

Zafar Sadiq, a Tamil Cinema film producer and deputy organizer of the DMK Chennai West District Committee, was accused of masterminding the kidnapping. Subsequently, he was permanently expelled from the DMK.

In this case, the Delhi Narcotics Control Unit posted a summons at Zafar Sadiq’s house on the 23rd, asking him to appear in person at their office on February 26 in connection with the drug smuggling case. But he did not appear.

Subsequently, a special force was formed to arrest him and his accomplices. Special police are actively searching for them.

Zafar Sadiq Background: Accused Zafar Sadiq hails from Kamudi in Ramanathapuram district. He came to Chennai many years ago to earn a living, and in a short span of time, he rose to the top of owning a hostel, a hotel, an export company, and a food processing company. It was then that he became close to the international drug trafficking gang.

Foreign gangs are already dominating heroin trafficking. An equally addictive drug is methamphetamine. It is in high demand in Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore and European countries. The ingredient pseudoephedrine is essential to make this drug. Its price is Rs.1.50 crore per kg. Zafar Sadiq has been accused of smuggling this pseudoephedrine.

3,500 kg of pseudoephedrine: His accomplices have shipped more than 3,500 kg of pseudoephedrine 450 times to various countries and earned crores.

Zafar Sadiq, who has made crores through this, has used his influence to enter the politics and cinema industry. Also, he has made friends with the authorities.

Apart from this, he is also said to be involved in hawala (documentless money) business. Police are collecting information related to this.

Also, the anti-narcotics police are collecting information about the people connected with Zafar Sadiq, his proxies and those who have benefited from him. Police said further action will be taken soon.
