Imphal: A big news has come out from Manipur. A terrorist attack took place here in Bishnupur district on Saturday. Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldiers have been martyred in this attack. The attack took place in Naransena area between midnight and 2.15 am. The deceased soldiers were posted in the 128th battalion of CRPF deployed in Naransena area of Bishnupur district of the state.
Meanwhile, Manipur Chief Electoral Officer, Pradeep Kumar Jha said there were fewer incidents of violence outside Manipur in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections on Friday. The official said that till the evening the voting percentage was in the range of 75 per cent and there were no major disruptions.
Manipur once again shaken
The returning officer also said that people came out in large numbers to exercise their franchise during the second phase of voting. One incident of electronic voting machine (EVM) malfunction was reported at a polling station and no major disruption was reported. However, this incident that happened late at night has once again shaken Manipur.
Jha further said that voting in the Outer Manipur constituency has been relatively more peaceful compared to the 2019 elections. He said, ‘People have come out in large numbers. Compared to previous elections, the elections in Outer Manipur have been very peaceful. According to the Election Commission of India’s voter turnout app, 78.78 percent votes were recorded till the last report.
