CHENNAI: The Chennai High Court condemned the action of the postal department for wasting the court’s time in the case related to the acquisition of land for the construction of a post office in Coimbatore and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the department.

In connection with land acquisition, a contempt of court case was filed against Lima Rose from Coimbatore on behalf of the Postal Department in the Madras High Court.

Conclusion

The bench comprising Justices R.Subramanian and P.Velmurugan who heard the case passed the order:

As far as this case is concerned, there is no doubt that the owners have not fulfilled their promise not to hand over the land as per the agreement entered into with the Post Office.

But the postal department has decided to build a post office in a place where there is no public road, blindly along with the land owners.

Planning permission to build an office has been applied for.

But as the building does not have a public road and has yet to get planning permission, it cannot be considered a contempt of court case. The case is dismissed.

Even God cannot save this country if the government officials are careless and careless.
