Before the relocated criminal court of Dixinn, the phase of confrontations on points of contradiction during the final interrogation, around the events of September 28, 2009, continued this Monday, April 22, 2024.

Concerning the management and handover of the bodies between the Conakry stadium, the Samory camp and the morgue of the Ignace Deen hospital, it was retired general Valentin Haba, forensic doctor Hassan Bah and colonel Abdoulaye Chérif Diaby who were the first to be confronted.

In his version of events, General Valentin Haba declared that in total there were 54 bodies which, on the instructions of General Mamadou Toto Camara, were handed over to Mr. Abdoulaye Chérif Diaby. According to the public prosecutor, Colonel Abdoulaye Chérif Diaby, at the time Minister of Health, denied any involvement in this handover of the bodies.

Questioned again, during this phase of confrontation, the first Valentin Haba confirmed his statements.
“General Toto was there as well as Colonel Abdoulaye Chérif Diaby. And it was General Toto who asked that the bodies be made available to Mr. Abdoulaye Chérif Diaby,” he maintained.

A statement contradicted by the former Minister of Health who claims to have never been associated with the management of bodies. In front of the medical examiner, he said that General Toto would have given him the count.

“He (Toto) told me here are 54 bodies which are in the trucks, the military doctors are there they will transport them to the morgue. It was not to me that he sent the bodies directly, he even said that the costs of preparing the bodies that he pays…I did not manage the bodies, I did not transport any bodies, it “It was he who sent the trucks to the stadium to collect the bodies.”

Unlike the first two, Professor Hassan Bah said he received a total of 58 bodies at the morgue of the Ignace Deen hospital. However, he clarified that he was not aware of their origin. “I was not told where the bodies were coming from, I was told to come and receive the bodies that were in the military trucks. These bodies which were in the decomposition phase were loaded into trucks parked under the hot sun,” revealed the forensic doctor during this first phase.

The second confrontation opposed the former chief of staff of the armed forces, Oumar Sanoh, the forensic doctor and Colonel Chérif Diaby.

Indeed, during his testimony, General Oumar Sanoh spoke of the existence of 157 bodies, collected at the stadium, on the evening of September 28, 2009. Before the judges, the former senior officer declared that he had relied on the report of the ICRC representative to advance these figures.

“I confirm it, I based it on the report given to me by the lady from the ICRC because I did not count any bodies,”

In the same wake, Oumar Sanoh also admits having ordered the commander of the military train to make three trucks available to the lady, in which a total of 157 bodies were picked up at the stadium and transported to Camp Samory before being transported to the morgue.

It will be denied by Professor Hassan Bah who maintains having received only 58 bodies.

“I received 43 bodies, placed in military trucks. The bodies which totaled 58 were hospital deaths,” he said.

Following Colonel Abdoulaye Chérif Diaby, his co-accused Moussa Tiégboro Camara was also confronted by some of his accusers in relation to the insulting remarks attributed to him on the day of the carnage.

The hearing was postponed until April 23 for the continuation of the confrontations due to the fault of the civil parties.
