The government of the Russian Federation has allocated more than 24 billion rubles for fundamental quantum research until 2024, but business should also be involved in the further implementation of these technologies. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko at the plenary session of the Future Technologies Forum.

“The state is the main customer of such research – until 2024, the government allocated funding in the amount of more than 24 billion rubles for these purposes, but the applied implementation of the results and further order for engineering research should be on the business side, among other things,” he cites. words of the press service of the Cabinet.

Chernyshenko recalled that the government, together with the industry, has formed the Quantum Computing and Quantum Communications roadmaps, for the implementation of which 41 billion rubles will be allocated until 2026. “Moreover, the parity of public and private financing has been ensured,” the vice-premier emphasized. The primary task in this area is to develop the necessary regulations and conditions for attracting investment, he added.

The authorities expect that by 2030 at least 15,000 km of backbone quantum communication channels will be built in key areas, as well as quantum network monitoring centers. The volume of products sold by technology companies, according to the vice-premier, should be at least 30 billion rubles. At the moment, a pilot section of the Moscow-St. Petersburg backbone quantum network and the Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod segment has already been created, Chernyshenko noted, adding that sections with a total length of more than 1,400 km will be implemented by the end of the year.

July 13 Russian President Vladimir Putin visited exhibition of Russian achievements in the field of development of quantum technologies GK “Rosatom“and OJSC”Russian Railways”, presented at the site of the World Trade Center on the sidelines of the Future Technologies Forum. The head of state, in particular, was presented with a 16-qubit ion quantum computer, which is currently the most powerful in the country. According to Chernyshenko, by the end of the year it is planned to create a 20-qubit computer. Putin, during his speech at the plenary session of the Future Technologies Forum, also instructed the government and the State Duma to relaunch the mega-grant program for researchers.
