Children and young people from the Diocese of Río Gallegos (Argentina) filled the San Juan Bosco parish this Wednesday to honor the Patron of Patagonia with a Mass presided over by the Auxiliary Bishop, Msgr. Fabián González Balsa.

The celebrations began on Sunday with a triduum in which they prayed for families, the parish community and vocations. On Tuesday, the vigil consisted of a cantata in honor of Don Bosco.

The following day, Wednesday, a procession took place through the streets with the image of the saint and with a large gathering of children along with their catechists, who walked with a thermal sensation of -4°C.

In the central message of the Mass, Bishop González Balsa encouraged paying close attention to the most vulnerable, especially children and youth.

Remembering the figure of Don Bosco, the Prelate stated: “Nobody and nothing stopped him. Convinced of his faith, he put into practice what the Lord asked of him. He was crazy cute. Faced with the difficulties that he had to live, he taught us that we must always help with joy ”.

“We are all important in building the community and our friend Don Bosco saw that clearly in his time. Many were left out, especially children and young people at risk,” he said, recalling how the patron developed his work.

“As a Church we have to keep a close eye so that no one feels left out of the community. We have the responsibility to show that it is possible to have a different look at life, a look from the Gospel”, she urged.

“We have many difficulties as a Nation, but one is convinced that following Jesus, as Don Bosco did, is the way,” he added.

“Everyone, without exception, has this great challenge to make this world a better world,” he concluded.

Traditionally, Río Gallegos celebrated San Juan Bosco every January 31, but in December 2014, at the request of the then Bishop, Msgr. Miguel Ángel D’Annibale, the Chamber of Deputies approved the transfer of the date to the day of his birth, on August 16.
