China announced relaxations in view of protests against Covid restrictions. In commercial centers including Guangzhou and cities such as Beijing, closures were relaxed. Those who have been in close contact with the Covid-affected people have also been allowed to stay at home. Previously, mandatory contact ban was in the centers designated by the government.
Top government sources have stated that the country is moving to a new stage in the prevention of Covid and more short-term preventive measures will be adopted. It is also reported that the Zero Covid policy, which includes complete closure, will be phased out. The concessions are also considering the funeral of former President Jiang Zemin to be held next week.
