US citizens Victor and Cynthia Liu, who since 2018 have been unable to leave the PRC due to the travel ban, returned to the United States on September 26, a State Department spokesman reported to Reuters. The freed Americans were the children of one of the former leaders of the Chinese Bank of Communications, Changming Liu. Victor and Cynthia Liu were not charged with any charges and were able to travel around China, however, due to the ban, they could not return to the United States. Meng Wanzhou spent about three years under house arrest in Vancouver, Canada, and was arrested in 2018 at the request of the United States. Huawei’s find director was charged with fraud related to the violation of sanctions against China. Last week, a Canadian court terminated extradition proceedings in the United States.
