China is sending a new crew into space for its space research on the “Tiangong” (“Sky Palace”) space station. Commander Cai of manned space flight said this.

During its six-month stay, the team will carry out experiments, conduct spacewalks and install protective devices against space debris.

Wang Haoze is the third woman to fly into space for the People’s Republic. She is currently the only female space engineer in China, according to the official Xinhua news agency. Taikonauts Liu Yang and Wang Yaping were already part of the crew of previous “Shenzhou” missions and last flew into space in 2022.

The “Shenzhou-19” replaces the taikonauts of the “Shenzhou 18” mission who currently still live on the “Tiangong” and who left there at the end of April. The return of the three men to Earth is scheduled for November 4th.

As announced by the space agency, China is planning two more “Shenzhou” missions and the “Tianzhou 9” resupply mission for next year.

Beijing has long invested heavily in its space program. China wants to complete a manned lunar mission by 2030. This year, scientists also succeeded, for the first time in human history, in transporting soil samples from the hard-to-reach far side of the Moon to Earth.
