China’s economy grows moderately Dynamics

BEIJING: China’s economy grew moderately to 4.8 percent in the first quarter from January to March this year. It was 4 percent in the previous quarter. China’s economy has seen moderate growth despite curfews in key industrial cities, including Shanghai, to prevent the spread of the corona.

However, this is less than the estimated 5.5 percent. The Chinese government has announced that it will refund taxes paid by the industry in a bid to revive the corona-affected economy. It also ordered the authorities to expedite the implementation of incentive schemes for them. As a result, retail sales grew moderately to 3.3 percent in the first quarter of this year from a year earlier.
