The head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada Molina, began the Vaccination Day for the Winter Season 2024-2025under the motto “For your well-being and that of your Family, Get Vaccinated!”
This campaign, which will run until March 28, 2025, seeks to protect the population from seasonal diseases, mainly influenza and COVID-19.
During the event, Clara Brugada highlighted the importance of vaccination as a key tool for public health, recalling the crucial role that vaccines played during the pandemic.
“Today we start this campaign to protect the health of the capital’s residents, especially our vulnerable groups: girls, boys, older people and those with comorbidities,” he explained.
Vaccination points and dose goals
With 3,435 vaccination points distributed in IMSS, ISSSTE hospitals, mobile units of “Health in Your Home” and health centers of the Ministry of Health (SEDESA), the objective is to vaccinate more than 2.5 million people against influenza and apply 870 thousand booster doses against COVID-19.
“This campaign is a joint effort with the IMSS-Wellbeingin order to guarantee health during the winter season,” added the president.
Brugada highlighted that The vaccines available against COVID-19 will be Sputnik and Abdalawhile the influenza campaign will seek to protect the most vulnerable, particularly children, older adults, pregnant women and people with chronic diseases.
Participation of authorities
Also participating in the event were Nadine Gasman Zylbermann, Secretary of Health of the capital, who highlighted the effectiveness and safety of the available vaccines, and José Alejandro Ávalos Bracho, state coordinator of the IMSS-Wellbeing, who emphasized the importance of complete vaccination coverage to prevent shoots during winter.
The day includes an information campaign in hospitals and clinics to encourage the population’s participation in vaccination and raise awareness about its importance for collective protection.
