The actions include basic sanitation, supervision of temporary shelters, collection centers, water tanks, drinking water pipes and medical units, among others.

The Federal Commission for the Protection against Health Risks (Cofepris) sent brigades to respond to the emergency caused by the passage of the hurricane Otis in Acapulco Guerrero. The objective is to prevent damage to the health of the population caused by possible health risks.

The federal commissioner, Alejandro Svarch Pérez, heads the health authority team that moved this morning to carry out safety actions. health surveillance in Acapulco and on the coast of Guerrero. They will consist of supervision temporary shelters, food preparation centers, collection centers, water supply systems, water storage tanks for human use and consumption, drinking water distribution pipes and medical units.

Among the basic sanitation operations that will be carried out is the correct disposal of excreta in temporary shelters and in sites affected by flooding. Likewise, supply and monitoring of residual chlorine and application of calcium hypochlorite will be carried out in water supply sources to guarantee its purification.

Training will also be provided to the population to promote food disinfection with colloidal silveradequate management that guarantees its safety, and thereby prevents gastrointestinal diseases.

Likewise, the staff of this federal commission will apply calcium hydroxide, commonly known as lime, for the correct disinfection of infectious sources and the correct disposal of waste.

Cofepris urges the population to stay informed through official channels and follow the recommendations of local authorities if they are in affected areas.
