Coimbatore: A Coimbatore private school principal has been charged with sexually assaulting a student, police said.

A 17-year-old student from Coimbatore district received a transfer certificate from a private school six months ago. The student committed suicide by hanging himself from a fan in his living room on Thursday evening as his parents tried to enroll him in another school. The student’s father had lodged a complaint at the All Women’s Police Station alleging that Mithun Chakraborty, a teacher at the school where he was studying, had sexually harassed the student and that Tappave had left the school to escape from him, although his daughter had committed suicide due to continued harassment.
