After 10 months of joint work, and within the framework of the Trade Agreement between Colombia and Chile, the countries formalized their intention to work on the elimination of additional international roaming charges.
The objective of this initiative is to ensure that operators and telecommunications service providers, who offer roaming or international roaming service to travelers between Colombia and Chile, apply the same rates that they charge for mobile services in their own country.
The decision was signed, on behalf of Colombia, by the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Luis Carlos Reyes Hernández, and on behalf of Chile, the Vice Minister of International Economic Relations, Claudia Sanhueza Riveros.
The minister highlighted that this is an instrument that “allows us to advance in strengthening Latin American integration, one of the goals of the Government of Change, as well as in taking advantage of economic complementarities, promoting regional investment and insertion into chains. global value”.

The senior official added that “all this must result in economic growth for the countries and well-being for our citizens and for businessmen in both countries.”
With the signing of this Decision, the market regulatory authorities in each country, that is, the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) of Colombia and the Undersecretariat of Telecommunications (Subtel) of Chile, will coordinate to implement simultaneously and harmoniously the commitments acquired, in accordance with their national regulations.
It should be noted that according to the latest report from the DANE Quarterly Sample of Foreign Trade in Services, which is in the process of being adjusted to make it a monthly survey, exports of services from Colombia to Chile in 2022 would have reached US$383 million .
