Weather Regime Change Brings Cooler Conditions for the Weekend

As we transition into the fall season, warmer temperatures are giving way to much cooler conditions, according to weather experts. While there may be occasional periods of warmth in the future, it is expected that normal to cooler-than-normal temperatures will prevail for the foreseeable future.

To practice for the chilly weather ahead, we are experiencing our first significant cold front of the season this weekend. Today, scattered showers are expected to linger behind the front, possibly through late morning. However, the clouds should break by midday, although there is a slight chance of isolated showers in the afternoon. Highs will reach the mid- and upper 60s in most areas. Winds will blow from the northwest at 10 to 20 mph, with gusts of up to 35 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight, the clouds will clear out fairly rapidly, and it will remain largely cloudless throughout the night. With cooler and drier air moving in on northwest winds, lows will drop to the mid-40s to near 50.

Tomorrow, despite a good deal of sun, the air mass will create cloudiness due to very cold air aloft. This will result in temperatures about 10 degrees or more below normal, with highs ranging from near 60 to the mid-60s. Gusty winds from the west and northwest will make it feel even colder.

Tomorrow night, seasonably crisp conditions will peak, with lows ranging from near 40 to the mid-40s under mostly clear skies.

Monday will bring plenty of sunshine, but temperatures will remain in the mid-60s with a breeze.

On Tuesday, temperatures will nudge upward slightly, with highs mainly in the mid- and upper 60s, still below normal for this time of year.

It is important to note that even though there will be sunny periods, the overall trend is for cooler weather, so be prepared and dress accordingly.
