The education, health and public services sectors should be the most affected, namely Social Security and Finance, he said.

At the end of September, the Common Front announced a national demonstration for October 25, in Lisbon, which will start at 3pm in Praça do Marquês de Pombal, then proceed to the Assembly of the Republic, with the aim of salary and salary increases to demand. pensions, valuing the careers of civil servants and strengthening public services.

In the list of demands, the Common Front demands salary increases of at least 15%, with a minimum of 150 euros per worker, from January 2025.

The proposal put on the table by the Government shows an increase of 55.26 euros or a minimum of 2.1% next year, a better value than what was initially presented but still far below the demands of the unions. The solution proposed for next year will be repeated in 2026. And, for 2027 and 2028, the executive promises an increase of R$57.89 for most workers or a minimum of 2.2% for those with higher salaries.

The Common Front, which affects the CGTP, demands an interim increase in remuneration, with the intention of “replacing lost purchasing power”, and wants to increase the food allowance from six to 10.50 euros per day. No recommendation is made in the executive’s proposal to increase meal vouchers or daily allowances.

The structure that brings together more than 30 trade unions also demands that the minimum wage in public administration be raised to 1000 euros, starting in January. The value of this updated proposal is greater than the value proposed by the government to the unions and which assumes that the remuneration base of the public administration will rise to 875 euros next year.

The executive intends to raise the civil service remuneration base to 925 euros in 2026, and to 975 euros the following year, with the aim of reaching 1025 euros per month at the end of the legislature.

On October 29, the day before the vote on the State Budget for 2025 in general, another meeting is planned between the unions and the Secretary of State for Public Administration.
