The Constitutional Court of Armenia on Saturday, July 17, upheld the decision of the CEC of the republic on the results of the early parliamentary elections. The Constitutional Court’s decision is final and comes into force from the moment of its announcement, said its chairman Arman Dilanyan.

Extraordinary parliamentary elections in Armenia were held on June 20. 25 political forces fought for the right to form a new government. Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party won 53.91 percent of the vote. Ex-President Robert Kocharian’s Armenia bloc received 21.9 percent of the vote. The “I Have the Honor” bloc, formed around the Republican Party of former President Serzh Sargsyan, gained 5.22 percent.

The rest of the political forces were unable to overcome the passing threshold, which was 5 percent for parties and 7 percent for blocs. In early July, the “Armenia” and “I Have Honor” blocs, as well as the “Zartonk” and “Armenian Motherland” parties challenged the results of the elections in the Constitutional Court.
