Cook-Neetu-Villiers in ICC Hall of Fame

Every year, the cricket world’s Rathi-Maharathi are inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. Alastair Cook, Neetu David and AB de Villiers have made it to this list of legends. Cricket’s governing body announced the award on Wednesday (October 16).

Neetu’s name is pronounced among the legends in Indian cricket. Neetu took 8 wickets for 53 runs on his Test debut against England in 1995. The left-hander took a total of 41 wickets in 10 Tests in the national team jersey. He played 97 matches and took 141 wickets in ODIs.

On receiving the accolade from the ICC, Neetu said, ‘It’s a real honor to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, I think it’s the highest recognition in the national team jersey. This point can only be reached after dedicating life to cricket.’

Protea batsman de Villiers is a latecomer in this list. He has over 20,000 runs in three formats in his 14-year international career. For the Proteas, he scored 8,756 runs at an average of 50.66 in 114 Tests, 9,577 runs at an average of 53.50 in 228 ODIs and 1,672 runs at an average of 26.12 in 78 T20Is.

On being inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, de Villiers said, ‘It is a great honor to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, I am delighted to join the list of cricketers recognized in this way.’

Former England opener Alastair Cook. He has a long career. The left-hander scored 12,472 runs at an average of 45.35 in 161 Tests in a 12-year career. He scored 3,204 runs in 92 matches for England in ODIs and 61 runs in four T20Is.

On receiving the honour, Cook, 39, commented, ‘It was amazing for me to be inducted into the Fame. When you join this list of greats, it will surprise you. I am very happy.’
