Costco and Novo Nordisk Partner to Offer Ozempic and Wegovy at Significantly Reduced Price
A new collaboration between Costco and Novo Nordisk will provide members with access to a month’s supply of Ozempic or Wegovy for $499, a substantial discount on the popular GLP-1 medications used for diabetes and weight loss.
The partnership, announced by Novo Nordisk on October 3 via a post on X (formerly Twitter), aims to lower the financial barrier for individuals paying out-of-pocket for these medications. Currently, Ozempic typically lists for around $1,000 per month, while Wegovy carries a list price of $1,350 for a 30-day supply.
Novo Nordisk already offers the same $499 price point for a four-week supply of both Ozempic and Wegovy through platforms like GoodRx and its own direct-to-consumer service. This expanded availability through Costco, which operates over 800 stores globally, represents a significant step toward increased accessibility.
This move is part of a broader trend of Costco’s increasing involvement in the healthcare sector. In September 2023, the retailer introduced a $29 deal for members to access virtual primary care visits. Further solidifying this commitment, Costco launched a specialized weight loss program in 2024, offering three months of clinical consultation and a personalized treatment plan for $179.
“Costco’s expansion into healthcare services demonstrates a clear understanding of evolving consumer needs,” one analyst noted. “By leveraging its membership model and scale, the company is positioned to disrupt traditional healthcare delivery.”
The discounted pricing on Ozempic and Wegovy is expected to be particularly impactful for those without comprehensive insurance coverage or facing high out-of-pocket costs.
