The year 2024 begins without a bad joke for Paris FC. Without trembling, the Parisian team went for a second qualification in a row for the 16th finals by winning in Alès (1-2), 11th in group A of National 2. It was a special match, a little derby for Stéphane Gilli whose family remained living not far from there, in their house in Nîmes. The PFC coach could therefore count on the support of many close people. “Advocating group unity”, Gilli nevertheless chose to sleep at the hotel with his group, rather than at home on Friday evening.

“The objective has been met, we remain in six games without defeat,” says Stéphane Gilli. It was windy, the terrain was not easy. I congratulated my players and also this Alès team who did not close the game. On a good pitch, the match would have been more pleasant. »

In Alès, in addition to the long-term injured, Paris FC was deprived of its two center forwards, Lamine Diaby Fadiga and Pierre-Yves Hamel, who were slightly injured. Already seen during the last four L2 matches (4 entries), Ayoub Jabbari (23 years old) was established. The tall Moroccan striker (1.93 m), who played in the reserves of Caen, Avranches (National) and the 4th Spanish division, initially signed to play in the reserves of Paris FC (R1). But the numerous injuries allowed him to appear in the first team. It was he who allowed his team to make the match a little calmer by scoring their first professional goal (0-1, 3rd).

Kebbal’s magnificent solo goal

On a pitch which became almost impassable in places over the course of the match and against a team that was sometimes borderline aggressive, Paris FC was then able to manage. In a series of hooks of which he has the secret, Ilan Kebbal, the little Prince of Charléty, became, for the duration of a match, that of Pierre Pibarot (0-2, 76th). He was entitled to an exit to the applause of a public who obviously knows how to appreciate real ball players.

“We had the chance to open the score quickly, we were unable to take advantage of it,” said Stéphane Gilli. We had to score this second goal which would change things psychologically. We could have made the match easier. I think the fact that we scored very early disinhibited Alès. In the first half, they gave us problems, we weren’t fair. But we were calmer in the second half and they didn’t really have any highlights. The athletic aspect made the difference, we felt that Alès declined a little. We also showed talent. But I regret this goal that we scored in the 96th minute. Fortunately it was at the end. But we lost a ball stupidly, that’s one of the things where we have to improve. »

The penalty transformed by Mahamat (1-2, 90th + 6) is nevertheless anecdotal. Often decisive in this exercise, Ivan Filipovic was unable to stop it this time. This would have been a bit symbolic for the Croatian goalkeeper whose situation could change by the end of the January transfer window. Filipovic, who lost his starting place to Obed Nkambadio, reaches the end of his contract in June and will not be extended by his management.

A departure now could therefore take place, especially since the PFC is in discussions with an experienced goalkeeper, currently understudy in an L1 club. Things should settle down quickly. Regarding other reinforcements, Guéla Doué will start with Rennes this Sunday at Guingamp before being loaned and arriving at Paris FC at the start of the week. On the other hand, a return of Jaouen Hadjam now seems to have faded away. An element of the assumption of his loan by Paris FC caused a certain blockage between the parties.
