Chennai,

Actor Simbu has filed a defamation suit in the Chennai High Court seeking Rs 1 crore for allegedly spreading slanderous news about Michael Rayappan following the failure of the film Anpanavan Asarathavan Atakathavan. In this case, the Producers ‘Association, the Actors’ Association and actor Vishal were included as counter-petitioners. Vishal was then the president of the Actors Guild.

The government has now appointed separate officers for the South Indian Actors ‘Association and the Tamil Film Producers’ Association. These associations can only function according to their decision. Vishal had filed a petition seeking his release from the case due to this.

During the hearing on the petition, Simbu’s party objected to the removal of Vishal from the list of counter-petitioners. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the judge dismissed Vishal’s petition seeking removal from the list of objectors.

The case has been adjourned till next month.
