Covid-19, for now no to international tourists in the United States

by time news

Joe Biden celebrated, and with good reason, July 4th as Independence Day from the virus. It seemed almost all over but the Delta variant also in the United States, as well as throughout the world, changed the cards on the table.

Cards modified to such an extent that, as reported by the authoritative Reuters, the American administration has decided to keep the existing restrictions active for all those who wish to travel to the United States.

Thus, due to the increase in COVID-19 cases for the Delta variant, at least for the moment, according to a White House spokesperson, entry to the United States will still be prohibited for non-US citizens and the last 14 days in one of the 26 European Union countries belonging to the Schengen area, Ireland, United Kingdom, China, India, South Africa, Iran or Brazil.

In July, President Biden with Chancellor Angela Merkel at his side promised that this emergency ban, after more than 16 months, would be quickly lifted, but little was known about the new variant at the time.

As in many other countries, the administration of the Democrat is now under strong pressure from the opposition and the entire tourism sector to reopen the country to international travelers.

But the growing trend of Coronavirus cases caused by the Delta variant and the predictions of worse problems have not given solid guarantees to be able to reopen the whole country.

The number of new cases in the United States has recently increased by 70%. Which brought the daily average from around 16,000 positives to over 26,000. Unfortunately, even in the US the front of no vax and undecided is strong. Only less than half of US citizens (59% adults) have completed the vaccination.

And not even the 34 million infected and the more than 600,000 deaths are making a large mass of people who refuse the vaccine change their minds.
