Covid was 24 times more deadly than flu – Wel.nl

Of the people who got a covid infection in the first wave, 1.2 percent died. The so-called infection-fatality ratio (IFR) of Covid-19 is many times higher than the mortality risk from seasonal flu in the Netherlands, which is estimated at 0.05 percent. Covid has therefore been anything but a flu.

Been, because the risk of mortality became smaller during the pandemic. The variants that took over were less lethal. But Covid was also much more deadly than influenza in the second and third waves, researchers from four Dutch universities and RIVM calculated.
