This election constitutes a new recognition of the substantial contribution of the Kingdom to the international debate on crime prevention and criminal justice, and of the credibility of Morocco‘s actions in the fight against terrorism and transnational organized crime, according to the Representation permanent representative of Morocco in Vienna.
On this occasion, Mr. Farhane, jointly with the President of the 66th session of the Commission on Narcotics (CND), chaired the resumption session of the CND and the CCPCJ to examine the report of the Working Group responsible for to improve the governance and financial situation of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
Furthermore, Mr. Farhane will chair, on Friday, the 32nd session of the CCPCJ, which will be devoted to the examination of budgetary and strategic management issues, as well as the follow-up to the 14th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Protection. criminal justice and preparations for the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.
The session will also address the contribution of the CCPCJ to the work of the Economic and Social Council, including the review and implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, as well as the election of new members of the Bureau of the 33rd session of the CCPCJ, which will take place in Vienna in May 2024.
The CCPCJ is the principal decision-making body of the United Nations in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice, whose mandate aims to improve international action to combat national and transnational crime and the effectiveness of administration systems of criminal justice.
The Commission also constitutes a forum for Member States dedicated to the exchange of expertise and experience, in order to develop national and international strategies and determine priorities in the fight against crime.
