The verdict against the Croatian ex-prime minister Ivo Sanader in the corruption case “Fimi Media” is final. The Supreme Court upheld the November 2020 first-instance ruling on Wednesday, but reduced the sentence from eight to seven years in prison. The politician with good contacts to the ÖVP was head of government from 2003 to 2009. He is said to have smuggled state money into the coffers of the conservative HDZ, which is also ruling now, through a PR company.
