The prominent Cuban actress Corina Mestre recovers from the coronavirus after suffering the most serious symptoms of the disease.

As confirmed to Cuba News 360 sources close to the artist, Mestre was admitted to intensive care for coronavirus until her clinical condition showed signs of improvement.

Graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Performing Arts (1981) at the Higher Institute of Art, Corina Mestre is one of the most recognized actresses in Cuba. She began working at the beginning of the 80s in the Grupo Teatro Estudio, directed by Raquel Revuelta, in which she stood out for her acting skills.

Later, in Cuba, he had a meritorious career in Cuban television and cinema, in which he has performed works such as the soap operas Pasión y Prejuicio, El eco de las piedra, La casa de Bernarda Alba, and Salir de Noche.

He has also stood out for his work for children and for his relationships with musicians, especially trova, with whom he has collaborated in concerts, clubs and album recordings.

During the 80s he participated in the popular Teatro en Televisión space where he played characters from various works by the Spanish playwright and poet Federico García Lorca. Additionally, she is remembered for her performance in the adventures Los Papaloteros.

She has conducted workshops on directing actors and stage direction at the International Film School of San Antonio de los Baños and has taught master’s degrees in various Latin American countries. On several occasions she has participated in international festivals such as the Cervantino, Sitges Festival and Moscow Theater Festival, among others.

The coronavirus pandemic in Cuba has increased considerably in recent months, reaching its highest peak during the month of December with 217 cases in one day, a record number since the first cases of the pandemic were reported on the island.
