Cuban Luis Ernesto Martínez González publicly denounced the deterioration and abandonment of the former Juan Marinello Higher Pedagogical Institute, located in Matanzas.
Martínez regretted the state of destruction in which the building, currently closed, is located, and questioned the communist authorities for their lack of action.
The Cuban explained that the decision to close the institute was made by the rector of the University of Matanzas, which was evaluated as an institution of “Excellence.”
“Look at the state of the University of Matanzas’ former Juan Marinello Campus, evaluated for Excellence in a process during which that headquarters was not visited and about which the self-evaluation report was blatantly lied about,” he said.
However, he denounced that the self-evaluation report presented by the university did not include an inspection of the state of the institute, which he described as a “blatant deception.”
The Cuban said the situation has worsened since August, when the trees that adorned the building’s main entrance were cut down.
He said trunks were burned and branches fell on nearby structures, causing additional damage.
“They were not able to collect the debris from the destroyed railings and stairs,” he added indignantly.
Martínez called on the community, especially those who studied or worked at the institution, not to remain indifferent to the situation of abandonment.
“Poor my Cuba, because this is nothing for what awaits us with so many empowered unworthy people,” he said.
