The Cuban community has demonstrated a deep sense of unity in response to the devastating Hurricane Oscar in Guantánamo.
Among the many outstanding initiatives, Wilmer Fernández’s generosity was applauded by many on social networks, as he decided to make his Moskvitch vehicle available to transport donations to San Antonio del Sur, one of the areas most affected by the meteorological phenomenon.
“I offer my car for a trip tomorrow to bring donations to San Antonio del Sur. 51463617”were his words in a publication made on Facebook, which he also accompanied with a photograph of his car.
Naturally, the praise for his altruistic gesture is innumerable, as it shows that goodness, despite the crisis and misery that is becoming more and more accentuated, continues to be palpable in many inhabitants of the island.
Recently, another Cuban resident in Guantánamo, identified as Yaima Mondelo, started a campaign to raise everything possible for those most affected by the floods in the province.
“I join the pain of my people. I am collecting any help, clothing, food, medicine, anything to help our people. Today it is them, tomorrow it can be us”the doctor said in her message.

Guantánamo received the hardest blow after Hurricane Oscar passed through the region, causing multiple deaths and devastation in many areas.
Many people lost their homes, food and other property, also affected by the electrical crisis that, to make matters worse, hit at the same time as the meteorological phenomenon.
To this day, a large number of residents continue in the desperate search for missing relatives, while others help their neighbors with all their might.
