At the moment, two political subjects can appeal to the Constitutional Court (CS) to cancel the early parliamentary elections – the president and a minimum of 48 people’s representatives. This was explained in “The Day Begins” on BNT by the constitutionalist Prof. Dr. Plamen Kirov.
According to him, the demands of some of the formations are formulated in such a way that they are impossible to fulfill.
“What does it mean to ask the Central Committee to re-count all the ballots from the elections – the Central Committee is neither the CEC, nor the SEC, nor is it a control body to do this counting,” pointed out Prof. Kirov.
“The Supreme Court is a court and it can judge on the basis of presented evidence whether there have been violations of the law and with its decision declare the elections completely illegal or partially illegal in relation to individual representatives,” he explained.
Prof. Kirov pointed out that the court should make a decision within two months.
Regarding the Electoral Code, he believes that a new one should be written.
“There are inconsistent texts that mean nothing,” he said.
According to him, video surveillance is included in the law to say that there is control, but without real consequences.
